University students attend industry expert masterclasses for Industry Week

University Centre South Essex students were given masterclasses from guest speakers and professionals as part of Industry Week.

The event, held at the Southend campus, gave students the chance to attend in-person and virtual workshops, held by industry professionals to help with their development.

Industry Week saw a variety of artists, art directors and creatives work with students to deliver creative sessions and motivational talks. The specialist guest presentations were delivered by Andrew Brown from LinkedIn How, Jed Hallam, Head of Comms planning at EMEA Snap Inc, David Powel from the Wes Anderson project, Solomia Bohosz, Hotel Design Brits Award winner, Kiran Acharya, Photography Director, Simal Yes from LinkedIn, Mary Blair Art, Andrew Delaney, Award Winning Film Director, MUA Rachel Hardie, and a live performance from Jim Jam Arts.

John Chandler, Programme Partnership Manager for the Creative Division said: “Industry Week is always a great opportunity for our students to meet with various industry representatives. This Industry Week has been no exception with filmmakers, intern-providers, illustrators, game designers and branding specialists amongst many others. The energy and engagement from students has been excellent and I’d like to thank all the industry representatives who have visited us this week.”

One student said: “It was a great opportunity to meet industry professionals and we learnt a lot about how they got into their industry as well as put our skills to the test with a creative workshop.”
