Overview
Become a trainee assistant practitioner in healthcare
The Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Healthcare Professions is a two-year course that will give you the skills and knowledge you need to work in a variety of healthcare settings. You'll learn about anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and other essential healthcare topics. You'll also gain practical experience through placements in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.
The Pearson BTEC Higher National for the healthcare sector recognises that there are employability-related knowledge and skills that underpin effective practice across students’ learning that are sector-specific. Over two years learners will study a variety of topics that have been updated to include the eight domains from the draft Allied health professions support worker competency, education and career development framework.
There is a mandatory requirement of having at least 450 hours of work experience/placement in health care settings and a PLAD portfolio to be completed over the qualification.
Entry Requirements
- A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or related subject)
- A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades A* to C and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) in subjects such as math’s and English.
- Other related Level 3 qualifications
- An Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution
- Related work experience
- An international equivalent of the above.

Fees are per academic year for Home/UK students.
- 13 hours delivery each week across 3 days for two years
- You will also be required to participate in independent learning of at least 1440 hours including the mandatory 450 work placement hours.
It is recommended that you budget for your own laptop. If this is not possible the College has IT resources that you can use.
Also, an Enhanced DBS will be required for this course
