Step into a career in Sport

If you enjoy sport and want to build a future in this growing sector, this subject area offers a great place to start. Explore careers in coaching, fitness, personal training, sports therapy and football through courses from Entry Level to Level 3, with progression opportunities through to degree level. You will be supported by experienced staff in a positive environment, helping you turn your interests into a clear career path.

Learn by doing

Develop practical skills alongside essential theory. Study anatomy and physiology, then apply your knowledge through coaching, training and performance activities. You will also benefit from access to science laboratories and specialist workshops. Football students can develop their skills under a Pro Licence coach and through opportunities with our partners, Southend United Community Foundation.

Our facilities and your support

Train in industry standard facilities, including a fitness suite, studio, fitness testing room, sports massage room and dedicated resistance and cardio areas. Throughout your studies, you will receive support to build confidence, develop skills and plan your next steps, with many students progressing within the subject area for up to 3 years.

Where this could take you

The sport and physical activity sector contributes £6.2bn to the UK economy and supports around 1.25 million jobs. Student outcomes are strong, with 91% achievement in 2024 to 2025 and 100% of Level 3 Year 2 learners progressing to employment or higher education. You will leave ready to progress into further study, an apprenticeship or a career in the industry.

The staff are welcoming and will help them achieve their goals while helping them develop new skills in courses that interest them. I hope these students can study HE courses in their future.
