Apprenticeships

Become an apprentice

Association of Apprentices, Corporate Member logo

Apprenticeships are a perfect alternative to university or college for many people because you can work while you study. A great way to gain the skills, knowledge, experience and the qualifications you need to get into many careers, Apprenticeships combine work, training, and study, letting you 'earn while you learn'.

There are no student fees.

There are many apprenticeships available across a wide range of industries, and for over 1,500 job roles. As a paid employee, each apprentice works alongside their studies. There are no student fees – your training costs are funded by the government and your employer.

Apprenticeships are an excellent path for people at any stage of their career, from those starting out, to those re-entering the workforce, or those wanting to reskill or change careers. You can apply for an apprenticeship if you will be 16 or over at the commencement of the apprenticeship as long as you are not in full time education. Apprenticeships are no longer just for school leavers, anyone over the age of 16 can apply!

Apprenticeship vacancies

Vacancies are updated every week. More can be found on the government site.

We also work with new employers to secure apprenticeships, so email apprenticeships@southessex.ac.uk to register your interest.

It is also possible to contact employers directly if there is someone you are interested in working for to secure an apprenticeship. You can then contact us to support this apprenticeship as the training provider.
