Overview

International trade is vital to the UK economy, in fact the global freight forwarding market is predicted to grow steadily over the next 4 years. This dynamic sector manages the consolidation of goods being moved across the world, providing complex services to clients who require a secure, efficient supply chain. 

Trade expansion means that the demand for freight forwarding skills will also increase. This course provides apprentices with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and experience to progress on to a career in the logistics industry.

Entry Requirements

  • Employed in a trade/industry related to the apprenticeship.
    You will need to find employment in a related trade/industry before applying for the apprenticeship programme you wish to complete.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths.

Course Structure

Apprentices will gain core knowledge and skills of the international freight forwarding industry: international freight movement, customs procedures, business finance, freight costing, and customer service. Once their core knowledge is complete, apprentices will then choose from one of three specialist pathways: air freight, ocean freight or road freight, to reflect the focus of their employer's operations.

At the end of the Apprenticeship you will partake in the following assessments

An Apprenticeship Standard programme is occupation focused and concentrates on the relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours required to complete the programme successfully.

Employment or progression on to Level 5 or 6 apprenticeship/course
