Statement from South Essex Colleges Group

South Essex Colleges Group is aware of Thurrock Council's position in relation to selling assets and decreasing its debt and we understand that it must do what is right with regards to its civic responsibilities. The proposed sale of the ground lease for the land that Thurrock College is sited on is therefore understood. 

Denise Brown, Principal and CEO of South Essex Colleges Group said: “Our focus for our community is continuity and growth. Whether through lease negotiations or existing arrangements, Thurrock College will remain a cornerstone for further education in the region. 

“Thurrock College has more than 100 years left on its lease, and we look forward to many more happy years in this location, whoever owns the land. Moreover, we are happy to negotiate purchasing the land to maintain our ongoing legacy and ensure we can continue to provide the skills and training our local community needs into the next century and beyond."
