Maritime employers needed to match with apprentices

South Essex College is calling all maritime employers, have you thought about hiring an apprentice? Do you need an engineer to maintain your vessel? Why not train a young person in the industry at the same time and give them the opportunity to secure a lifelong career.

The Maritime Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Level 3 allows students to study and learn while working. It’s ideal for those who want to pursue a career as a maritime mechanical fitter, maritime electrical fitter or maritime fabricator.
The College is in a prime position to offer the course, with Essex boasting 360 miles of coastline and 95 marinas, bringing the much needed training to apprentices’ doorsteps.

Apprentices will be able to offer employers dedication, drive and a willingness to learn. The college offers a professional service ensuring you are paired with an enthusiastic student who wants to progress into the industry.

Simon Lofting, Lecturer Assessor – Marine Engineering and Construction, said: “It’s the only course of its kind in south east England. We want to hear from all companies who have the need or requirement for marine engineers.

“We cover the complete spectrum from small pleasure boats to large commercial vessels, catering for the leisure businesses and commercial sector. Our workshops are fitted out with state-of-the-art technology and resources ensuring our apprentices learn in a brilliant working environment.”
