Course Overview
This 2 year Level 3 course focuses on illustration and drawing, helping you develop strong visual communication skills and your own original creative style. It is ideal for learners who are interested in careers within illustration, animation, cartoon art, and related creative industries.
You will develop a broad range of 2D mark making skills, with a strong emphasis on drawing, idea development, and the creation of original concepts and styles. Throughout the course, you will build a professional portfolio that can be presented to employers and supports progression to a Foundation Diploma or degree level study.
To study this course, you will need Level 2 qualification or GCSEs x 4 at grade 4/C - one to be in Fine Art and grade 4/C in ENGLISH OR MATHS dependent on vocational subject to be studied.
You will be asked to provide evidence of your ability in the subject which could be in the form of a portfolio Successful attendance at interview event
There will be 2 internally assessed on the following modules:
- A1: Skills development and
- A2: Creative Project
You must pass all units in order to achieve the qualification.
On completing the course you will have a portfolio to present to potential employers as evidence of your artistic abilities. Careers for illustrators include book/medical/specialist illustration concept art animation editorial publishing multimedia merchandising advertising.
Progression on to a Level 3 creative programme in Art & Design or Media and Performing Arts (specialist options available), Employment as Full and Part-time Apprenticeship, Self-employment .
