Course Overview
The iQualify Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders supports you to develop the knowledge required to apply for a Personal Licence in England and Wales. This qualification is relevant if you work in, or are moving into, roles that involve the retail sale of alcohol within licensed premises. During the course, you can learn about the licensing framework that governs the sale of alcohol. Learning focuses on the roles and responsibilities of licensing authorities, the four licensing objectives and how these influence the operation of licensed premises.
You will also explore the application process for a Personal Licence and the legal responsibilities associated with holding one. You will develop an understanding of premises licences and operating schedules, including the role and duties of the designated premises supervisor. The course also covers unauthorised and temporary licensable activities, rights of entry to licensed premises, and police powers relating to the suspension or closure of premises. Further learning includes the legal requirements around the sale of alcohol, including specific prohibitions, the strengths of alcoholic drinks and the effects of alcohol on the human body. A strong emphasis is placed on the protection of children from harm and the responsible retail sale of alcohol.
By the end of the course, you will have developed a clear understanding of licensing law and responsibilities related to alcohol sales. This qualification supports progression within hospitality, retail and licensed premises roles where knowledge of alcohol licensing requirements is essential.
