Course Overview

The iLearn CSCS for Labouring in Construction course is a three‑week, classroom‑based training programme designed for learners who want to prepare for working in the construction industry. It is suitable for those who need structured training and revision linked to working towards the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) test. The course focuses on developing an understanding of safe working practices and professional behaviour expected on construction sites. Learners explore health and safety in construction alongside wider workplace topics such as equality and diversity, communication and customer service. This supports learners to understand site expectations and responsibilities within construction environments.

Throughout the programme, learners study a range of work‑related topics including emergency first aid awareness, substance misuse awareness, mental wellbeing at work, conflict management and personal development. Learning supports safe, responsible and professional conduct and helps build confidence for working within the construction sector.

This course supports learners who are aiming to work towards a CSCS card and want a clear introduction to construction‑related training and employability skills. By the end of the programme, learners will have developed a stronger understanding of construction site safety, workplace responsibilities and industry expectations, supporting progression within the construction sector. This course is delivered at our Southend and Thurrock campuses, as well as our Centre for Digital Technologies in Basildon.
