Workforce Adult Skills Tutor
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Workforce Adult Skills Tutor to join our Adult Learning team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to deliver high-quality employability and vocational training that helps adults develop the skills, confidence and qualifications needed to succeed in employment and further learning.
Job overview:
Working across a range of classroom, workplace and online environments, you will support learners from diverse backgrounds to achieve their goals while building strong relationships with employers, referral partners and local communities.
As a workforce adult skills tutor, you will:
- Deliver engaging employability and vocational training programmes to adult learners.
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching sessions using learner-centred approaches.
- Assess learner skills, knowledge and progress through a variety of assessment methods.
- Support learners to achieve qualifications within agreed timescales.
- Provide effective information, advice and guidance, reviews and tutorial support.
- Develop learning materials and programmes that respond to employer and labour market demand.
- Deliver training in classrooms, workplaces, community venues and virtual learning environments.
- Maintain learner records, tracking systems and awarding body documentation.
- Build positive relationships with employers and referral agencies to support learner recruitment and progression.
- Promote progression into employment, apprenticeships and further learning opportunities.
What we're looking for
Essential qualifications
- Teaching qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Assessor Award.
- Verifier Award.
Essential experience and skills
- Significant experience teaching or training adult learners.
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using flexible and inclusive teaching methods.
- Ability to design and adapt training programmes to meet learner and employer needs.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Experience using IT and virtual learning platforms such as Teams or Zoom.
- Commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
Desirable
- Degree qualification.
- Vocational qualifications at Level 3 or above in workplace-relevant subjects.
- Knowledge of adult education funding streams and government-funded programmes.

Additional information
The role involves travel between College campuses, employer premises and community venues. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and attend College events will be required.
