The Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship supports you to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to work effectively alongside teachers in educational settings. It is suitable if you are working, or preparing to work, in primary schools (Year 1 and above), secondary schools or special education settings, supporting pupils across a wide range of ages, abilities and needs. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will focus on supporting teaching and learning within the classroom. You will work with pupils individually or in small groups to help them understand learning objectives, stay on task and make progress. Promoting self‑belief, social inclusion and positive behaviour forms a key part of the role, helping you contribute to a safe, nurturing and supportive learning environment. Learning focuses on working closely with teachers to support assessment for learning, understand curriculum requirements and contribute to planning and classroom activities. You will also explore how technology can be used to support learning and engagement. Safeguarding is central to the programme, including understanding Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance and recognising your responsibilities in protecting pupils’ wellbeing. You will develop professional behaviours such as acting with honesty and integrity, being a positive role model and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion within the school community. The apprenticeship also supports you to build strong communication, teamwork and problem‑solving skills. You will learn how to motivate pupils, build positive relationships and add value to the learning environment through collaboration and reflection. Promoting Fundamental British Values through spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is embedded throughout the role. By the end of the apprenticeship, you will have developed the competence and confidence needed to work effectively as a Teaching Assistant. This Level 3 qualification supports progression within education settings and provides a strong foundation for continued development in teaching support and education‑related roles.
