Course Overview

The Music Performance and Production Level 3 Extended Diploma supports you to develop advanced performance, composition and production skills in preparation for further study or progression within the music industry. It is suitable if you have completed prior music study and want to strengthen your technical ability, creativity and professional understanding.

Throughout the course, you will develop your skills as a performer and musician through a range of practical activities. Learning focuses on improving performance techniques, listening skills and musical expression, helping you understand how music is interpreted and delivered across different performance styles and contexts. You will explore arranging, composing and improvising music, alongside developing a strong understanding of music theory and harmony.

Working as part of a music ensemble forms an important part of the course, supporting you to collaborate with others, rehearse effectively and develop as a confident, responsive musician. The course also supports you to plan and deliver music projects, helping you understand how musical ideas are developed, refined and performed or produced professionally. Singing and performance techniques are embedded throughout, supporting versatility and confidence across different performance settings.

Maths and English are included to support your overall development and progression. By the end of the course, you will have developed advanced musical skills, performance confidence and creative awareness, supporting progression into higher‑level music study, training or related creative pathways.
