Course Overview

This course is an excellent choice for learners who have completed a Level 2 counselling qualification and are ready to develop their skills further. 

At Level 3, you will be encouraged to explore counselling theories in greater depth while practising and refining your skills alongside peers, gaining valuable experience and constructive feedback. Delivered over three hours each week, the course offers an immersive introduction to counselling, with support from both tutors and fellow learners. You will be encouraged to reflect on, challenge and develop your own worldview, as well as consider the perspectives of others, supporting both personal and professional growth. 

The course allows you to build your counselling skills while developing a theoretical understanding of key counselling approaches, including psychodynamic and humanistic models, cognitive behavioural therapy, integrative approaches, reflective practice and role‑play activities.

To study this course, you must have successfully completed a Level 2 qualification that involved interactive learning with peers and tutors, with a minimum of 75 guided learning hours.
Course assessment is carried out through a range of methods, including essays, presentations, portfolios of evidence, case reviews and role‑play activities.

Advanced learner loan may be available, subject to eligiblility The cost of the course is £916, taught over 1 year, 6 hours per week Non-UK citizens will need to provide sufficient document/s confirming your right to live and study in the UK e.g. confirmation of settled status. Course fee includes the registration costs with AIM qualifications.

On successful completion, you may progress on to one of our Level 4 Diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling, subject to a satisfactory interview, written assessment, appropriate completion of Level 3, and tutor approval. You may also progress to higher education at university or college, including our FdA Counselling programme at University Centre South Essex.
