Course Overview
Applied Science Level 3 is designed for learners who want to build a future in science or related fields such as nutrition, medical research, pharmacology, medical physics or environmental science. The course develops a strong understanding of core scientific principles while building the practical laboratory skills and academic confidence needed for progression to higher education.
You will study a broad range of scientific disciplines through hands‑on investigations and applied learning. Areas of study include scientific investigation skills, laboratory techniques, human physiology, genetics and genetic engineering, diseases and infection, microbiology, chemical analysis and medical physics applications. Maths and English are embedded throughout the programme to strengthen analytical, numerical and communication skills, ensuring you are well prepared for university‑level study and science‑based career pathways.
To study this course, you will need 4 x GCSEs at grade 4/C including English Language, Maths and combined science or two single science subjects. You will also require successful attendance at interview event.
This course is free to UK learners under 19 who are not in employment.
