Course Overview

The iStudy Counselling Skills Level 2 Certificate (Online) supports you to develop an understanding of counselling skills and how they can be used ethically and safely in a range of settings. Delivered through distance learning with online workshops via Microsoft Teams, the course is suitable if you are interested in counselling skills for personal development, volunteering or workplace roles that involve supporting others.

During the course, you can learn about core counselling skills and how they are applied in different contexts. This includes exploring key counselling theories, understanding professional boundaries, and recognising the importance of diversity, ethics and confidentiality when using counselling skills. You will also focus on personal development, helping you reflect on your own skills, attitudes and communication style. Learning supports you to build self‑awareness, empathy and effective listening skills, which are valuable in many people‑focused roles. As part of the course, you will have the opportunity to practise your skills by leading a short counselling session in a safe and supported environment.

By the end of the programme, you will have developed a clearer understanding of counselling skills, ethical practice and your own development, supporting progression into further study or roles where supportive communication skills are important.

To study this course, you must provide one of the following forms of identification: Valid in-date passport (any nationality), Signed in-date UK photocard driving licence, UK biometric residence permit card, Birth certificate (BUT, if a birth certificate is presented as proof of identification, an additional form of identification such as a signed bank card, utility bill or a letter issued by a government department must also be provided).
