Mattia Mollica

When Mattia began searching for the right university, she knew she wanted a course that would offer specialist industry experience while allowing her to remain close to home.

When Mattia began searching for the right university, she knew she wanted a course that would offer specialist industry experience while allowing her to remain close to home. After discovering UCSE's unique Costume Construction degree and its close partnership with the Royal Opera House, she found the perfect place to develop her skills and pursue her passion for costume design.

From the very beginning, Mattia embraced everything the course had to offer. The small class sizes provided a supportive and collaborative learning environment, allowing her to benefit from personalised guidance and one-to-one support from experienced tutors. This close-knit atmosphere helped her build confidence, refine her technical skills and develop professionally throughout her studies.

One of the most valuable aspects of Mattia's university experience was the opportunity to work alongside industry-leading professionals through UCSE's affiliation with the Royal Opera House. These experiences gave her valuable insight into the world of theatre production and helped prepare her for a successful career within the performing arts industry.

Thanks to the practical skills, industry connections and experience gained during her degree, Mattia secured a role working on the highly anticipated Paddington Musical while still in her final year. She has continued to progress within the production and now works as a Rehearse and Wardrobe Assistant, supporting rehearsals and working closely with the cast and costume department.

Reflecting on her time at UCSE, Mattia said:

"I would definitely recommend UCSE, especially the Costume Construction course. It's so unique and unlike any other course. The small class sizes mean there's always support when you need it, and the opportunities through the Royal Opera House have been incredible. Everything's been perfect."

As she celebrates her graduation, Mattia is proud of everything she has achieved and excited for what lies ahead. Seeing her former classmates and learning about their successes makes the occasion even more special. Her journey demonstrates how dedication, creativity and making the most of every opportunity can lead to exciting career prospects in a highly competitive industry.

Through hard work, determination and a passion for her craft, Mattia has transformed her love of costume construction into a career. As she begins the next chapter of her professional journey, she is already making a valuable contribution to the world of theatre and live performance.
