Brandon Caten-Pendred

When Brandon chose to study Games Design at UCSE, he was looking for a university experience that offered a more personal approach to learning

When Brandon chose to study Games Design at UCSE, he was looking for a university experience that offered a more personal approach to learning. Having previously studied at a larger university, he knew that smaller class sizes and greater one-to-one support would help him thrive academically and make the most of his studies. Choosing a local university also provided the convenience and accessibility he was looking for while allowing him to focus on achieving his goals.

Throughout his time at UCSE, Brandon developed both his technical knowledge and professional skills, gaining valuable experience that has prepared him for a future career in software testing. Through the process of designing, developing and testing games, he built strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, learning how to identify issues, evaluate user experiences and ensure products meet high standards of quality.

Beyond his academic achievements, Brandon became a valued member of the university community. As a Student Mentor, he consistently went above and beyond to support his fellow students, offering guidance, encouragement and practical advice. His willingness to help others, combined with his approachable nature and positive attitude, made a lasting impact on those around him and helped create a supportive learning environment for others to succeed.

One of the aspects Brandon valued most about UCSE was the collaborative atmosphere created by the small class sizes. The close-knit environment enabled students to share ideas, learn from one another and receive personalised support from tutors, something he found invaluable compared to the experience of studying in much larger lecture halls.

Reflecting on his time at UCSE, Brandon said:

"I would definitely recommend UCSE, especially for those who benefit from one-to-one support and smaller classes. You're able to take a lot more in, bounce ideas off other people and get the support you need. For me, this style of university learning is far better than a larger university environment."

As Brandon graduates, he looks back on his university journey with pride. His time at UCSE has equipped him with the skills, confidence and experience needed to take the next step towards a career in software testing, while also allowing him to make a meaningful contribution to the student community. Through his hard work, dedication and commitment to supporting others, Brandon has left a positive legacy and is well prepared for the opportunities ahead.
