Studying performing arts acting at South Essex Colleges Group has been a genuinely transformative experience for me. When I first joined, I didn’t realise how much a truly supportive environment could change the way you learn, but here, the teachers don’t just teach, they care. They notice when you’re struggling, they check in, and they guide you with patience, encouragement, and real belief in your potential. It’s a level of support I never had at my last college, and it has made all the difference in my confidence and growth.
The teachers here push you creatively in the best possible way. They help you refine your acting, explore new techniques, and build your confidence, but they also open your eyes to the wider world of performing arts. Because of their support, I’ve started thinking about what else I might want to do in the industry especially directing. Being part of collaborative projects, seeing how scenes come together, and watching how teachers shape performances has inspired me to imagine myself behind the scenes as well as on stage. The course has encouraged me to experiment, take risks, and discover strengths I didn’t know I had. The college atmosphere is warm, energetic, and full of people who genuinely want you to succeed. It’s the kind of place where creativity feels alive, and where you’re surrounded by classmates who share the same passion and drive.
A huge part of my journey has been thanks to Jay. His support, guidance, and belief in me have played such an important role in my development this year. He has always been there to help, to listen, and to push me in the right direction. I’m truly grateful for everything he’s done he’s helped me become the performer I am today and inspired me to think even bigger about my future in performing arts. Looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
This college has given me the confidence, support, and inspiration I was missing before, and it’s helped me realise that my future could be bigger than I ever imagined whether that’s acting, directing, or something I haven’t discovered yet. I’m genuinely excited to continue my journey here next academic year and see how much more I can grow, learn, and achieve.
