Danny Burns

My name is Danny Burns, and this is my story.

I completed the Warehouse and Storage Skills Bootcamp at Thurrock College, a free, hands-on course designed with employers to give learners the skills the logistics industry is looking for.

I really enjoyed my time on the course. I met new people, built friendships and gained valuable skills that prepared me for work. I also achieved key industry qualifications, including my RTITB Forklift Licence and CSCS card, which have helped me move forward in my career.

Before starting the course, I found it difficult to secure a job. Completing the Skills Bootcamp made a real difference. The support from Darren and the logistics team was excellent, and they helped guide me towards the next step by supporting me in securing an apprenticeship.

I am now working as an apprentice at Rayleigh Cold Store on their Warehouse to Wheels apprenticeship scheme. This opportunity is allowing me to build my experience in warehousing and continue learning on the job. In my second year, I will begin working towards my LGV licence, which is something I have always wanted to achieve.
