National Apprenticeship Week 2021

South Essex College is celebrating National Apprenticeship Week this week (8-14 Feb), promoting the training route, students and industries involved in the sector.

The week will see the college share lots of apprenticeship themed content from their website, social media channels and YouTube platform, including hints and tips on how to access apprenticeship information for employers and potential applicants.

Industries such as digital, construction, engineering and logistics will be the focus of each day raising awareness of the career pathways within each sector.

The college will also be holding a virtual apprenticeship information event during the week for prospective students and parents. To register to attend, visit www.southessex.ac.uk/events/apprenticeships-virtual-information-event-iwwshrov

Vikki Stratford, Workforce Apprenticeship Consultant, said: “Recently we’ve been asked is now a good time to take on an apprentice and the answer is yes! In January we were able to place and recruit 30 plumbers and 36 electrical apprentices around Essex so it just goes to show businesses are still taking on apprentices during the pandemic.”

The college will also be participating in the ‘Lunch and Learn’ session with Lower Thames Crossing, showcasing apprenticeship provision within the marine engineering industry.

Individuals seeking an apprenticeship and employers wanting to better understand the training route will find the week extremely informative. To find out more about apprenticeships at South Essex College, please visit www.southessex.ac.uk/apprenticeships
