Overview

Take the Lead in Electrical Safety: 2391–50 Inspection & Testing

This qualification helps you to improve your knowledge and skills in the areas of Initial Verification and/or Periodic Inspection and Testing of electrical installations in accordance with BS7671. 

The qualification offers three pathways depending on the type of inspection and testing you carry out:

  • 2391-50 Initial Verification qualification only
  • 2391-51 Periodic Inspection qualification only
  • 2391-52 Combined Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection qualification  

Why should I do this course?

The qualifications are intended for practicing electricians who want to expand their knowledge and skills  in the area of Initial Verification and/or Periodic Inspection and continue their professional development from Electrician to Approved Electrician.

Entry Requirements

  • City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (2357-13/91)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance) (2357-23/92)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker (2356-99)
  • City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346-03)
  • Equivalent historical qualifications (see EAS Table 4B/4C) EAS Qualifications guide December 2020 (theiet.org)

or

  • ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Electrician Card

Course Structure

  • Understanding the requirements for the inspection and testing of electrical installations
  • Understanding the safety management procedures when undertaking inspection and testing of electrical installations
  • Understanding the requirements for the inspection of an electrical installation
  • Understanding the requirements for testing electrical installations
  • Performing practical inspection and testing of electrical installations

Assessment & Feedback

Assessment will be through a multiple-choice on-line test and a practical task.

What Next...

On successful completion learners can also progress on to the City & Guilds 2396 Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations.
