Overview
This course represents the start of training to becoming a qualified counsellor. If you are interested in the human mind (yours or other peoples) this course which begins to unravel how to work with individuals with mental health issues alongside developing an understanding of your own mind. It is for three hours a week and is a great way to enter education.
Entry Requirements
Whilst there are no formal entry requirements applicants must be able to show they can study at the required level and attend an entrance interview to determine suitability for the course.
Course Structure
The Counselling Skills programme centres around developing effective and reflective communication skills. The course centres around deconstructing our normal patterns of relating in order to develop the required skills to centre another individuals frame of reference. This course will also engage the candidate in self-awareness and personal reflection through experiential and self awareness.

Assessment & Feedback
Assessment is through a range of techniques including essays, presentations, portfolios of evidence, case review, role play and exam.

Course fee based on 2021-22 for UK residents. Non-UK citizens will need to provide sufficient document/s confirming your right to live and study in the UK e.g. confirmation of settled status.
Course fee includes the registration costs with AIM qualifications.
What Next...
After successfully completing this course you could progress to the Counselling Studies Level 3 Certificate Counselling Studies course. Subject to a satisfactory interview and written assessment.
