Careers Advice

Careers coaches – further education

Our qualified Careers Coaches deliver one-to-one and group workshops in Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to support a wide range of activities. These activities are designed to engage you in your career progression and enhance your opportunities for personal and skills development. The service supports your progression into education, training or work.

The team supports students at all levels from entry courses up to level 4.

General careers interviews

During a careers interview the Careers Coach will discuss your strengths, personal qualities, skills and attributes and any possible barriers that may affect your end goals being achieved. Exploring specific career ideas and identifying the different routes into chosen career paths will help you to achieve your ambitions.

A careers interview gives you the information to allow you to make informed decisions in your progression and career path.

Employability

We can help you identify the skills that are required for employment and equip you with the skill set needed to produce CVs, apply for jobs, gain interview skills and help with job preparation. Through workshops, tutorials and one-to-one sessions, you will gain the knowledge to effectively search for employment.

Education progression

We endeavour to empower you to make informed decisions on your course progression and the options available to you, to support you in working towards your careers goals. These are conducted through tutorials, workshops and one-to-one sessions.

Apprenticeship advice

We work in partnership with the SEC Workforce Team, to provide you with information about apprenticeships and the different levels available. This will enable you to explore apprenticeships as alternative progression routes into your career choices.

Through the delivery of workshops and one-to-one guidance, you will be supported in applying to higher education, constructing your personal statement and student finance applications. You will have the knowledge to identify degrees to achieve your careers goals.

All of these areas can be covered in one-to-one sessions and group workshops (which will be booked through your tutors).
