Course Overview
This one‑year Level 2 course is ideal for learners who enjoy being creative and want to explore art and design as a future study or career option. It suits those who want to build confidence in their creative ability while developing practical skills, whether they are progressing from school or looking to re‑engage with education in a hands‑on subject.
During the course, learners will experiment with a wide range of art and design materials, techniques and processes across both 2D and 3D work. They will learn how to research artists, designers and creative ideas, and use that research to inspire their own work. Drawing skills are developed alongside communication and problem‑solving skills, helping learners generate ideas, respond to creative briefs and explore different ways of working, including time‑based and project‑led activities.
By the end of the course, learners will have produced a personal project and built a portfolio that showcases their creative development and technical skills. This qualification provides a strong foundation for progression onto Level 3 art and design courses or other creative pathways, and helps learners develop the confidence, creativity and understanding needed to move forward in education or towards entry‑level opportunities in the creative sector.
