Singing for a Million

Local charity choir group, sing to raise money for various charities.

Staff members from South Essex College Group have been participating in a local choir group, Buskerteers to raise money for various charities.

Student Learning Coach, Julie Stevens said: “640 Buskerteers Choir members got together to record a video at the Palace Theatre in Southend we sang a rendition of ‘Yellow by Cold Play’ to raise money for a brain tumour charity. The target is to raise over a million pounds for various charities through learning songs and going out busking.” HE Lecturer, Vanessa Dunley and Job Coach, Paula Harrison have also been taking part.

Julie continued: “It’s got a great social side to it to and lots of fun. I originally joined to help build up my breathing capacity after Covid.”

A Race for Life will be taking place soon along with more gigs and other events.
You can view all the planned events at www.buskerteerschoir.com where you will have the opportunity to join the project and/or donate to add to the already impressive total of £96,400. Performances can be viewed on YouTube and also via their social media accounts Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
