Entrepreneur accounting professional inspires Business students

Access to Higher Education Business Management students were inspired by CEO and Founder of Jola Strategic, Laura Hicks, on developing her financial strategy business and the challenges of running one through COVID-19.

Laura delivered a virtual presentation to students on her experience as a portfolio Chief Financial Officer and discussed the importance of maintaining focus on the future of the business, and maintaining plans during difficult times. She also spoke with students about the power of LinkedIn, tips on building a network of contacts and becoming an entrepreneur with her own business, Jola Strategic.

Jola Strategic works with a small number of businesses at a time helping them with their objectives and providing the support they require to achieve financial success. The importance of financial stability is crucial through the current pandemic and Jola Strategic has been helping countless businesses throughout lockdown.

Commenting on her experience, Laura said: “I enjoyed the chance to talk with the students and to share my years of experience. I hope it inspired them to follow whatever path they choose and never give up!”

Charlotte Condon, Access to Business Course Leader, said: “Laura gave a really insightful Q&A session with the access to business students, many of whom are really interested in starting their own businesses and would like to become self-employed in the future.”

“Laura was really open and honest about the challenges they may face but also filled them with great enthusiasm and encouraged them to really go for it.”
