Overview

The Children's Act 2004 places duties on a range of organisations to ensure they safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

This includes the need for appropriate safeguarding training, as employers are responsible for ensuring staff are competent to carry out their responsibilities towards safeguarding children and young people. This qualification would meet this requirement.

What's covered?

  • the law in relation to safeguarding children and young people
  • types of abuse and how to recognise and report it
  • how to respond to suspected incidents of abuse

How will my work be assessed?

This course is assessed by a short question and answer workbook.

What can I do after this?

On successful completion of course you could progress onto a range of Childcare qualifications offered at South Essex College. 

There are no formal entry requirements, however you must be over 16 years of age to take this course.
