This is an ideal course if you want to develop your skills and are working in a managerial position with children from 0-16 years.

Course details


This course is suitable for those working in a managerial position with children from 0-16 years and holds a Level 3 qualification. You will be required to demonstrate your competence against the national standards.

Contents: To achieve a full Level 5 award, 9 units must be completed. There are 4 mandatory units:

  • Establish and develop working relationships
  • Support policies, procedures and practice to safeguard children and ensure their inclusion and well being.
  • Support programmes for the promotion of children’s development.
  • Reflect on, review and develop own practice.
  • The 5 remaining optional unit will need to be relevant to your vocational area.

Assessment: You will be assessed in the workplace on your practical skills and complete a portfolio of evidence which will be continually assessed. There is not an exam but written independent assignments will need to be completed.

What can I do after this?

This qualification allows progression to other "higher level" awards such as management or a degree (subject to suitable UCAS credits).

Already be employed in a management role in a nursery/childcare setting. Hold a Level 3 or 4 CCLD (or equivalent qualification).
