This three day course is designed for those who want to become a qualified First Aider.

Overview

This course is suitable across a range of industries as it covers the essential knowledge required to be at First Aider in the workplace. 

What's covered?

  • roles and responsibilities of a first aider and how to assess an incident
  • first aid skills for cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the correct use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • how to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking, suffering from hypovolemic shock or who has an external bleed
  • dealing with minor injuries such as cuts, grazes, bruises and small splinters
  • how to deal with burns and scalds
  • dealing with spinal injuries
  • recognising and responding to strokes and heart attacks

How will my work be assessed?

This course is assessed by completion of a short, hand-written workbook and a practical demonstration of newly-learnt skills. 

What can I do after this?

On completeion of this course you can become a first aider in the workplace.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
