Student artwork brightens up Southend Central train station

South Essex College graphic design students have brightened up the subway at Southend Central train station with a series of artwork.

The first year Level 3 Graphic Design students were tasked with creating illustrations of Southend landmarks to go on display at the station by c2c.

Representatives from the train operator visited the College to select their winning designs which are now on display for passengers to enjoy.

Students Jak Bridgehouse and Alisha Carrington were selected as the winners and were rewarded with a pair of return tickets to London. Designs by Blade Lee, Jasmine Maycock, Aaron Attard, Amy Haynes, Danica Pagunsan, Joshua Bathan and Luca Gulyas were also selected to go on display.

Astra Achong, Graphic Design Course Leader, said: “The work experience team works hard to get students relevant industry placements to aid their studies. The students gained valuable experience of working with a client with this project, and are proud to have their work displayed at Southend Central station.”

A c2c spokesperson said: "We are delighted to be involved in this art project with South Essex College. The posters has brought a bit of much needed colour to the subway and has made it more welcoming as people walk through."
