Interior design students showcase their work

South Essex College interior design degree students are holding an exhibition in the Southend Campus Gallery to showcase their skills working to two very different briefs.

The first year students were tasked with creating an interesting and unique restaurant design for an establishment located in Camden, London, taking inspiration from the area’s location, culture and history.

The second year students put their knowledge to use by identifying an historical building in the Southend area and establishing a new use for it. The students had to undertake a site analysis report to identify the local demographic, location, other local businesses and potential for that building.

Stephanie Butcher, Programme Leader BA (Hons) Interior Design, said she was impressed with the students’ work.

She said: “The students have produced some excellent work and it’s interesting to see how they have each interpreted the brief to deliver very different pieces.”

The designs can be viewed in the Southend Campus gallery until the end of this week.
