Ford visit puts students in creative fast lane

Representatives from Ford visited the College’s Thurrock Campus to speak to students about engineering in early years.

Students were tasked with designing an activity for pre-school children that would encourage them to think about how things work and what they can be used for.

Four projects were presented with a windmill design being chosen as the winner.

The judges were so impressed with the work, they took the designs back to be used in Ford’s nursey.

The feedback from judges was impressive and included: “The students had clearly listened well to the brief including taking elements of engineering they had learnt in a previous session with us and applying them well into the activities. The projects they had worked on, as well as the levels of engagement, energy and enthusiasm they had put into creating and explaining them to us today, were something we were really impressed by, and also something they should be very proud of.”
