Jack Davenport, the star of smash hit US TV series FlashForward and the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy ha
s been cast in a new role, as the voice of South Essex College of Further & Higher Education for its first ever radio campaign.
The versatile British actor, who was once mooted to be in the running for the role of James Bond, was chosen as the man with the golden voice by the new College that merged from Thurrock & Basildon College and South East Essex College on January 1st.
Jack is perhaps best known for his role in Pirates of the Caribbean as Norrington, who even gets to sword fight Johnny Depp! His latest role however is that of Lloyd Simcoe in FlashForward, shown in the UK on FIVE. His character has played a part in the whole world passing out for two minutes and whilst passed out have visions of their future in six months time.
On choosing his voice, Marco Scarola, Head of Marketing and Communications at the College, said: “Jack’s voice perfectly encapsulates the image of South Essex College of Further & Higher Education, having both a reassuring quality and sense of professionalism. It’s no wonder that he is in such demand for voiceover work with major products and is many people’s first choice for narrating documentaries.”
Doing a little bit of FlashForwarding himself, Jack has already recorded several adverts that cover Clearing and enrolment in August, as well as a series of Open Events and about the merger itself. The first ever Open Event of South Essex College takes place at the Basildon Campus on Wednesday 20th January, 5.30pm – 8.00pm.
