Our Careers Service aims to give you the necessary skills to enhance your chances of employment in today's competitive market.
Our careers team can provide you with one-to-one guidance interviews, a drop-in service and careers-based workshops, including:
- Provide information, advice and guidance on career and further study options
- Give you access to workshops and seminars with guest speakers and employers
- Provide advice on completing job applications, writing a CV and interview techniques
- Offer you practice interviews for jobs or university applications
Our main campus careers centres offer a wealth of free magazines and employer directories as well as online careers information and e-based guidance (e.g. Prospects Planner test). In addition, we run a number of careers workshops throughout the year, giving you the chance to hear from and speak to a range of guest speakers and employers.
JobShop
According to a National Union of Students (NUS) survey the majority of students, a staggering 78%, choose to work while studying. Although working as a student can be incredibly useful and help you to subsidise your travel and living costs; in a climate that is becoming more and more competitive it can also be vital to get valuable experience under your belt.
