What will be taken into account by the College when making offers?
The academic admissions tutors for each course will take the following factors
into account when deciding on offer and levels, as together they provide a good
indication of an applicant's potential:
- GCSE performance, including possession of pre-requisites
- AS-levels, including subject mix and declared results
- A-level or equivalent qualifications, including subject mix, need for pre-requisites,
and predicted grades
- All qualifications undertaken
- Enrichment and extra-curricular activity, including work-experience, qualifications
(eg Duke of Edinburgh, Young Enterprise), and cultural and social life, which would
be indicated on the personal statement
- Reference from school or college
- Interview performance (if required)
- Any relevant mitigating circumstances which have bearing upon your application.
UCAS Extra and Clearing UCAS Extra allows applicants who have not had an offer from
any of their five choices of institution, to make a further choice or choices to
obtain an offer prior to results being published, and before Clearing starts. Clearing
takes place after exam results are published and allows students holding no offers
of a place on a course to make applications for unallocated places. There may be
some vacancies available through Clearing in August 2010
