If you are under 19 and live more than three miles away from the College and are
studying your course with your most local provider, you can apply to your Local
Authority for a bus pass.

The College Travel Bursary
If you are aged 16-18, live more than three miles away from the College, have an
annual household income below £40,000, and you have either been refused travel support
from your Local Authority or you can prove that a college or training provider closer
to your home offer the same course you are studying with us, we can help you (subject
to the availability of funds) through the College Travel Bursary which can contribute
to the cost of travelling to College. If your application is successful, a contribution
will be made based on the distance you travel to College. The College operates a

Travel discount
South Essex College and Thurrock Learning Campus are included in a transport discount offered by the Ensign bus company in Grays. The scheme will allow eligible students at Thurrock Learning Campus and South Essex College the opportunity to have unlimited travel by bus (Ensign routes only, term time only) within the Thurrock area for £18 over a four week period (renewable every four weeks). This discount offer is only available to students who:
- Are under the age of 20 (19 year olds may be eligible subject to other criteria)
- Are resident in Thurrock
- Have not been provided with free home to College transport by their Local Authority
Students wishing to take advantage of this offer should visit Learner Support Services (in Southend) or the Staff Workroom (Thurrock Learning Campus) to collect an application form. Completed forms and payments should be returned to Reception at both sites.
