World Skills 2011 Have a Go Taster Day
Programme 2011 – 2012

The 2010-11 School Conference programme was a huge success with over 480 local school pupils attending the nine conferences that were run at South Essex College.

Feedback from the events was very positive.

We are excited to announce a new series of Have a Go Taster Days supported by World Skills 2011 to help enrich the school curriculum and help your students choose a career path. These interactive Taster Days cover a range of industries and will also involve employers and industry specialists where suitable.

Your students will gain hands-on knowledge and access to the latest industry facilities. You can attend as many Taster Days as you wish from the following:

  • Art, Design & Media
  • Business & Enterprise
  • Health, Care & Public Services
  • Information Technology
  • Performance
  • Science & Engineering
  • Sport
  • Tourism, Airport Operations and Events Management

When and where?

The Taster Days run from 11th November 2011 – 27th March 2012 and will be taking place across our three Campuses in Basildon, Southend and Thurrock (see schedule for details).

You can bring a group of Year 10 – 12 students to take part in any of the days shown. The Taster Days will run from 9.30am to 2.30pm, and can accommodate between 60 – 80 students, giving them the opportunity to attend all four subject specific workshops, with each workshop lasting approximately 50 minutes.

Transport and lunches will be provided by the College – please inform us if you would like transport providing.

What next?

In order to secure your place, please email louise.borton@southessex.ac.uk with your interest and approximate numbers no later than 3 weeks before the relevant Taster Day.

Please include any information regarding students needing special requirements. Places are limited to the numbers shown on the attached schedule and will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
