Can you help me find an affordable student house to live in?
We can assist students over the age of 18 to find accommodation in and around the Southend-on-Sea area. If you are under 18 and worried about where you are going to live, we recommend that you contact your local Connexions centre for advice.
What type of accommodation is available and what will it cost?
Shared houses and flats are available to rent from between £250 and £350 per calendar month. All of the houses within the scheme are quality checked and are required to comply with relevant local and National health and safety and planning regulations.
Can you help me pay my rent?
Although we can’t fund your accommodation, in some extreme situations the College may be able to make a contribution towards rent and domestic emergencies. Also, if you are moving into the area to study, you could apply to the Residential Support Scheme for help.
Do you have to pay Council Tax as a student?
Full-time students are not required to pay Council Tax. You will, however, have to register your exemption from this tax. Visit Learner Support Services and we will assist you with this process.
