I am delighted to introduce South East Essex
College’s Employer Engagement Strategic Plan for August 2009 to July
2010 which includes our Vision, Mission and Core Values statements from the new
College Strategic Plan 2009-2013. This Plan focuses on the strategic priorities that
we believe will ensure that we deliver our vision to ‘provide outstanding education and
skills training to create excellent opportunities for the people and employers of
South Essex’, in the context of the Government’s Employer Engagement Agenda.
South Essex College is committed to
supporting the training and development needs
of the local community and the broader Thames
Gateway South, which includes businesses as well
as individuals. To this end the College continues to
promote partnership working with other key
training providers and educational institutions. The College manages and leads the NOVA Partnership, which
holds a substantial Learning and Skills Council (LSC) contract for Apprenticeships and Entry to Employment (E2E) provision,
and also the Thames Gateway Train to Gain Consortium which has secured a further contract for 2009/10.
Southend Learning is a unique partnership set up
to offer a clear route into adult education and is made up of five partners; South Essex College,
NOVA, Southend Adult Community College,
Southend Community Action and the University
of Essex, and now offers an enquiry service in
Southend High Street. Initiated in 2001, the
Partnership with the University of Essex also
offers the College the opportunity to develop
Foundation Degrees and Honours Degrees in partnership with local
businesses. Most recently, following the allocation
of dedicated LSC funds, the College has begun working with JobCentre Plus to provide specific training
opportunities for the unemployed in order to help them back into work.
