This course will give you an in-depth general knowledge of science and help you learn what it would be like to work in a science-related field You will study units such as:

  • Chemistry and our Earth
  • Energy and our universe
  • Biology and our environment
  • Investigating a crime scene
Why should I do this course? 

To develop more in-depth knowledge of science and to learn what it would be like to work in a science-related field

What's covered? 

This course will give you an in-depth general knowledge of science and help you learn what it would be like to work in a science-related field You will study units such as:

  • Chemistry and our Earth
  • Energy and our universe
  • Biology and our environment
  • Investigating a crime scene
How will my work be assessed? 

Through a range of assessment techniques which may include coursework and examinations.

What can I do after this? 

After successful completion of the course, you may progress to the College’s BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas in Applied Science or Forensic Science.

  • Use the excellent learning resources in the College's Science Centre
  • Take part in educational trips
Entry requirements 
  • GCSE grade D or above in maths, science at grade D or above, and English at grade E or above, or
  • Applied Science Level 1 Diploma (or equivalent) and maths and English at entry 3
  • successful attendance at interview event and satisfactory references
