Studying for these courses is FREE. If you successfully complete one module in the
required time you can progress onto another module. You will be registered with
City & Guilds and gain a certificate for each module undertaken successfully.
All these courses are offered in a range of sessions including daytime, evening
and weekend provision.
IT For All is available at the Maitland House Centre. Hours can be arranged to suit
your convenience and can be changed week by week, for example, to accommodate shift
working.
E-Quals:
If you wish to gain a level 1,2 or 3 nationally recognised qualification (Certificate
for IT users, Diploma for IT users, Advanced Diploma for IT users), you will need
to complete three of the modules below, one of which must be IT Principles. This
module has both a practical assignment and a multiple choice test, which is taken
on line. Both must be passed to gain the qualification.

Learners completing the Certificate for IT Users Level 1 will be able to progress
to Level 2 qualifications such as the Diploma for IT Users and the highly recognised
European Computer Driving Licence.
Start IT:
A basic introduction to IT for complete beginners. The course is designed for either
word processing or spreadsheets, delivered in 30 hours, over 10 sessions of 3 hours
per week, again with flexible attendance.
OCR New CLAit:
This course consists of two modules comprising Internet & Email combined and
Website Design. The course is delivered in 45 hours, over 15 sessions each of 3
hours.
ECDL - European
Computer Driving Licence
The European Computer Driving License (ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification
which consists of eight modules covering Level 1 and Level 2 IT. You will receive
three certificates upon completion of this course, BCS Certificate for IT Users
Level 1, BCS Certificate for IT Users Level 2 and the ECDL. The ECDL is highly valued
by the NHS and other Public Sector employers.
Modules 1, 2 and 7 are Level 1 and must be taken before progressing onto 3, 4, 5,
6 and Unit E. For this course you will receive 180 guided learning hours. This course
runs with the same flexibility as our other sesssions.
E-Citizen
This course is designed for those with a limited knowledge of computers who wish
to gain valuable computer and Internet skills. It has been developed in response
to European directives promoting “e-citizenship” .
The programme develops Candidates' skills and knowledge in essential computer and
Internet use.
On completion of the course students will be able to interact with online service
providers and carry out routine tasks.
A variety of teaching methods will be used to deliver this course.
