Course Fee Remission

If you are aged 19 or over you will generally be responsible for the payment of your course fees. However, if you are in receipt of an income assessed benefit such as Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit, your fees may be waived. You can discuss Fee Remission with a Client Adviser. You will be required to provide evidence of any income assessed benefits you receive – it may be necessary to visit Job Centre Plus for this purpose.

Adult Learning Grant

ALG is available to you if you are over the age of 19, enrolling onto your first full-time (more than 12 hours a week) Level 2 or Level 3 course.

Learner Support Discretionary

The Learner Support Fund is a fund available to assist students with an identified financial need. You can use it to purchase learning resources for your course and in some circumstances the fund can contribute towards child care and travel expenses. Please check with a Client Adviser as eligibility criteria applies.

Level 2 Entitlement (L2E)

If you are over 19 and do not have a Full Level 2 qualification (NVQ2, 5 GCSEs A-C etc) you may be eligible to have your course fees waived. You can discuss L2E with a Client Adviser and complete the form at the back of this pack if appropriate.

Level 3 Entitlement (L3E)

If you are over 19 and under the age of 26 and do not have a Full Level 3 qualification (NVQ3, 1 or more A Levels etc) you may be eligible to have your course fees waived. You can discuss L3E with a Client Adviser and complete the form at the back of this pack if appropriate.

Evidence

In order to apply for any funding it is vital that you are able to provide official evidence of your earned household income and any benefit entitlements.

Your course fees may be paid for you through Course Fee Remission or Level 2 or 3 Entitlement.

You are likely to be able to claim Adult Learning Grant.

You may be eligible for the discretionary support schemes if you have a low household income and find it difficult to study.

The funding options suggested in this section of the website are only intended as a guide and should always be discussed with a Client Adviser. Funding streams such as those listed above only apply to certain LSC funded courses. Those enrolled onto the majority of Evening and Weekend College, Business Development and professional courses would not be eligible for financial support although for clarification we would recommend discussion of funding options with a Client Adviser.
