I am unsure of my options can I book an appointment with a Client Adviser?
If you’re not sure what to apply for, or want to change your course choice, we recommend
that you contact a Client Adviser. Should you change your application this may
delay the application process.
Client Advisers are generally available between 8.30am and 4.30pm although we recommend
you book an appointment. During term-time interviews can also be arranged in the
evening on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday or on a Saturday morning.
I am on benefits; will I have to pay for my course?
If you are in receipt of an income assessed benefit such as Job Seekers Allowance
or Income Support, you may not have to pay your course fees, although there are
some exceptions. Please check with a Client Adviser to see if the course you have
chosen is eligible for fee remission.
I am not on any benefits but am on a low income and can’t afford the course fee.
Is there any help I could apply for?
If you are on a low income you may be eligible for help with your fees. We realise
that everyone’s situation is different, so please check with a Client Adviser if
you would like more details.
I am not in receipt of any benefits and do not consider myself to have a low income.
Can I still get help with the cost of my course?
You may be eligible for Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement. This entitlement relates
only to your existing qualifications and may mean that you can study for free. We
recommend that you discuss this option with a Client Adviser.
If I have to pay for my course fees, is there any way I can pay in installments?
You can usually pay for your fees in installments. This would have to be paid by
Direct Debit and can generally be arranged at the point of enrolment.
I am studying on a course which requires a lot of specialist equipment; can I get
any help with this?
The college has a sum of money called the Learner Support Fund which can help eligible
students with course related costs.
Can I receive any assistance with the cost of childcare?
In some circumstances it may be possible for the Learner Support Fund to make a
contribution towards the cost of childcare for your timetabled hours at College.
It is important to discuss this assistance with a Client Adviser as the contribution
we make will not cover the full cost of childcare.
Can I receive any assistance with the cost of travelling to college?
Learners over the age of 19 who travel more than 3 miles to college via public transport
(excluding taxi) may be eligible for support from the Learner Support Fund. Please
check as this can change annually.
