At Thurrock Campus, you wanted somewhere to go during your breaks. The Health and Wellbeing Centre opened September 2011 providing access to fitness equipment, a squash court and table tennis.
You wanted easier access to Student Council and enrichment information online. Student Life on C_Space is now live with information on Student Council meetings, events and activities and enrichment sport clubs and activities.
You wanted a way to access confidential help and advice on a range of issues including bullying, harassment, substance abuse and domestic violence. The stop@southessex.ac.uk email was launched in November 2011.
Motor vehicle students said the cars they were working on were old and there weren’t enough of them. We collaborated with Essex Police to renew the stock twice a year with seized cars.
Higher education sport students said we needed to improve the equipment in the Human Performance Unit. We invested nearly £20,000 in lab-based fitness testing equipment meaning our students can now choose from a wider range of dissertation topics whilst being able to complete all their data collection within this College facility.
You wanted a more affordable lunch menu. Scoff launched its £1 menu in January 2012.

My staff cannot attend College due to distance. We delivered the business training in-house.
My workforce needs courses that are timed to fit in with their working hours. The College delivered training sessions at the business before breakfast and lunch.
I need a course to address specific skills gaps within my workforce. Ad-hoc course designed to meet those specific needs and delivered in College.
