We are delighted that Thurrock and Basildon College has merged with South East Essex College (January 2010) in a move that will transform education in the area.
Joining the two colleges under the proposed name of South Essex College of Further and Higher Education will offer more choice for people who want to stay in, or return to, education.
There are four key messages on which the merger is based:
- More choice: to provide more opportunities for education, training and skills
- Higher quality provision for all: the merged college is committed to be outstanding. It will focus on meeting needs and improving the quality of learning and teaching
- More specialist expertise available: the merger combines resources, specialist education and training expertise; opening new learning and career opportunities
- A more coherent and comprehensive curriculum offer: the merger provides clear pathways for progression to HE and employment
